What is the difference between therapy and consultations?
The difference lies in the role that the clinical psychologist assumes. In therapy, a psychologist has a role of mental health provider caring for a consenting client, and administering empirically supported therapeutic interventions to client with the goal of improving clients’ own mental health.
In a consultation, a psychologist offers theoretical knowledge regarding mental health topics impacting a client or a third party identified by client. Consultations can also include problem solving, planning, or assisting with finding mental health resources, etc.
What happens after I fill and submit a request form?
Our office will contact you within 24 hours with a welcome email with detailed instructions about our on-boarding process. We will also email you a secure link to an intake form to fill out. Please make sure you check your inbox and Spam folders for both emails, and provide all requested information asap. All confidential information confidential secure, as required by HIPAA.
What does “on-boarding process” mean?
On-boarding starts by assessing for clinical and logistical fit between client’s needs and our clinical specialties. Should we assess that we have a good tentative fit, we will proceed with insurance and identify verification, as required by law and insurance panels. Please try to provide all requested information asap, to expedite the process.
How do you verify insurance?
After a client provides, securely, insurance and Identity information, we contact insurance provider and verify coverage, to protect client from lack of insurance coverage and increased financial liability.
What happens after that?
We contact client with tentative feedback regarding initial clinical fit, insurance coverage, and any other needed information. If an tentative fit is found, we ask your earliest availability to meet with Dr Q for an intake session.
So, What is timeline of on-boarding process overall?
We typically finalize on-boarding process within 72 hours of receipt of all needed information.
